Under the Sino-US tariff disputes, how should we respond ?
Since Feb 1st,2025, the US government launched tariff war against China, the tariff was raised to 125% in April 2025. No doubt this is a disaster for every people engaged in Sino-US trade. In fact, not only us but also other card printing companies are facing the same problems. The order volume has sharply declined, most of the US customers stopped buying from China. Fortunately, in the end of April, the Sino-US government agreed to decrease the tariff to normal level in the coming 3 months at first. This decision brings dawn to people who do business with US customers.
However, in the long term, no one knows what Trump will do in the next. So, what should we do or how can we survive from the tariff war ?
1st, Continue to reduce costs and increase price competitiveness by optimize supply chain and procurement, improve production efficiency.
2nd, Adjust pricing strategy. Offer discounts to customers, cut down profit to a reasonable low level.
3rd, Cut down logistic cost. In the past, the most popular shipping methods are express shipping within 3-5 days after pick up. It’s fast but the cost is very high especially when the order amount is small but weight is too big. For now, more and more companies switch to DDP (delivered duty paid) shipping by air or by sea. Although the shipping time is 7-14 days longer than express, for buyers, their total cost with shipping and import fee/custom duty/tariff will be much lower than using express because the tariff is included in the shipping cost. buyer no need to pay extra duty fee any more, and they never need to worry or handle duty problems.
